Twenty Internally Displaced Persons are slated to benefit from the Yobe state Agency for community and social development project’s construction of 20 houses for their resettlement in Kukareta and Bulturam-Bulin. According to Alhaji Goni Babagana, General Manager of the agency, the N9.6 million project was designed to address the needs of two groups – IDPs who have returned to their communities and those who decided to settle in their new places of abode. It caters for both IDPs who have decided to settle in Kukareta where they took refuge and, returnees of Bulturam-Bulin in Damaturu and Gujba local government areas respectively. Goni said that the agency hopes to assist 10 additional groups of vulnerable persons before the end of the year. He also disclosed that the agency had launched 35 community development projects in Gujba and Gulani local government areas which have been adversely impacted by the insurgency.
