The Yobe State Government has resolved a total of 2,974 communal cases, especially between farmers and herders in the last two years across its 17 LGAs.
The Chairman of the Yobe State Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee (YB-ADRC) popularly known as “Zauren Sulhu”, Ustaz Babagana Mallam Kyari, disclosed this while briefing newsmen.
He said that the committee was established to settle disputes without litigation and avoid the acrimony that often accompanies extended trials, while also allowing parties to understand each other’s position and craft their solutions.
He further called on the state government and other partners to build offices and provide utility vehicles for the committee to discharge its responsibilities.
