Yobe Security Adviser Bags Traditional Title

The Special Adviser to the Yobe State Governor on Security Matters, Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (Rtd), alongside the State Commander of the Hunters Group, Alhaji Idrissa Buba, have been conferred with traditional titles by the Damaturu Emirate Council in Yobe State.

The Emir of Damaturu, His Royal Highness Alhaji Shehu Hashimi II Ibn Umar Al-Amin El-Kanemi, announced the honours when the recipients paid him a courtesy visit at his palace to express gratitude over their appointments.

Brig.-Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam (Rtd), the Special Adviser to Governor Mai Mala Buni on Security Matters, was conferred with the traditional title of Zannah Ziriyoma of Damaturu Emirate in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the restoration of peace and security in Yobe State, particularly within the Damaturu Emirate.

Similarly, the Emir bestowed the title of Zannah Girdima of Damaturu Emirate on the State Commander of the Vigilante Group, Alhaji Idrissa Buba, in acknowledgment of his exceptional role in the successes recorded in counterinsurgency operations across the state.

According to the Emir, the titles were conferred based on the recipients’ unwavering commitment and proven efforts toward restoring and sustaining peace and security in Yobe State, with special emphasis on the Damaturu Emirate.

He urged the appointees to remain worthy ambassadors of the Emirate and to continue conducting themselves in ways that would project the traditional institution in a positive light.

In his response, the newly-conferred Zannah Ziriyoma of Damaturu Emirate, Brig.-Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam (Rtd), expressed gratitude for the honour, describing it as a motivation to intensify efforts toward addressing security challenges in the state.

He stressed that security agencies are working in close synergy with traditional institutions and local hunters to sustain lasting peace across Yobe State.
