The first batch of 50 students from Yobe State on Tuesday departed the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, for further studies in India.

The beneficiaries, drawn from Potiskum, Fune, Fika, and Nangere Local Government Areas, comprise both undergraduate and postgraduate students under the Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai Scholarship scheme.

They will pursue advanced academic programmes in high-demand fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cyber Security, Radiology, Clinical Physics, Physiotherapy, and Machine Learning.

Speaking during the farewell ceremony, Senator Bomai urged the beneficiaries to be worthy ambassadors of their parents, Yobe State, and Nigeria at large.

He said the scholarship initiative reflects his continuous commitment to youth empowerment through quality education and aims to equip them to contribute meaningfully to national development while remaining competitive in a rapidly evolving global environment.

Senator Bomai added that the programme would not only enhance the academic and professional capacities of the students but also strengthen Yobe State’s reputation for investing in education and innovation-driven growth.
