Yobe state government is to recruit 3000 teachers for primary and secondary schools in the state within the first quarter of 2021.
The state Commissioner for Information, Abdullahi Bego made the disclosure during the end of year parley with journalists in Damaturu.
He said the state government had earlier convened the first education summit aimed at proffering solutions to the sector.
Bego said COVID-19 pandemic, among other challenges government had delayed the construction of seven model schools in some major towns to address problem of overpopulation in its schools.
He said the state also embarked on the construction of more schools and classrooms and renovation of existing ones in all the 17 LGAs, including the fencing of five model primary schools in five LGAs.
“Other projects in the education sector consisted of construction of 38 classrooms,12 offices and 18 toilets”
