The National Universities Commission (NUC) is said to have approved the commencement of nine new academic programmes at Yobe State University, Damaturu, for the 2019/2020 academic session.
The vice-chancellor, Prof Yakubu Muktar, revealed this in a statement, stressing that the university would make effort to create a niche for itself as a prominent centre of excellence in teaching, learning and research.
According to the VC, the new undergraduate programmes are; B.Sc. Human Anatomy, B.Sc. Biochemistry, B.Sc. Human Physiology, B.PT Physiotherapy, B.Sc. Geology, B.Sc. Microbiology, B.A. Linguistics (Arabic), B.A. Linguistics (English) and B.A. Linguistics (Hausa).
Prof Muktar appreciated the governor of the state, Hon Mai Mala Buni, for his unwavering support and commitment to the development of the institution, and the actualization of the takeoff of the new programmes.
