Yohanna Mercy emerged as the headline act of the Ladies’ HCP 0–28 category as the Ladies’ Golf Association of Nigeria (Ladies’ Golf Association of Nigeria) staged its inaugural kitty tournament to usher in its president and the 2025–2027 executive council on February 14 at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Golf Club.

Playing off handicap 28, Mercy produced a composed and disciplined round, posting a gross score of 93 that translated to an impressive nett 65. Her performance stood out for its consistency across the course and proved decisive in a competitive field, earning her the Ladies’ HCP 0–28 winner’s title. She finished ahead of SJ Marcus (HCP 14), who returned a gross 81 for a nett 67 to settle for runner-up honours.

The celebratory kitty also delivered strong performances across other categories. In the ladies’ events, Justina Gideon claimed the gross title with an 82, while Pat Ozoemene followed with 86. Veteran and super veteran categories were keenly contested, with Udod Ugbor winning the veteran ladies’ title (nett 67) and Helen Mark topping the super veteran ladies’ division (nett 84). Lydia Anenga dominated the Ladies’ HCP 29–36 category with a standout nett 61.

On the men’s side, AO Ayanbode emerged overall nett winner with 63, as SA Icha secured the gross men’s crown with 74. Abubakar Umar led the veteran men with a nett 65, while Samuel Anyamele took honours among the super veterans.

For Yohanna Mercy, however, the day belonged to her—her victory not only crowned a fine individual outing but also added a memorable highlight to LGAN’s inaugural kitty, setting a confident tone for the new executive council’s tenure.
