Yola residents have given the management of Yola Electricity Distribution Company(YEDC) seven days to review its billing system or face resistance.
Speaking at a town hall meeting held at Ribadu Square in Yola, the Chairman of Jimeta Community, Usman Mauludu, accused the YEDC of shortchanging consumers through overbilling.
He said the Forum had submitted a formal complaint to the electricity company, and the community would take action to resist the ‘exploitation’ by YEDC.
The letter of complaint warned the YEDC to reduce the ‘outrageous’ bills to reflect level of consumption within seven days.
The Senior Communications Officer of the YEDC, Kingsley Nkemneme, said the managing director had received the letter of complaint from the Forum and would address the issues raised.
