– says suspending the CBN governor to probe the organisation also calls for Deziani’s suspension to probe the NNPC.President Goodluck Jonathan must immediately suspend Minister of Petroleum Resources and Chairman Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke if he is sincere on his ordering the forensic audit of NNPC accounts over the missing $20 billion.
The Director of Outreach Services of the Anti Corruption Network (ACN) and former National Youth Leader of the defunct new-PDP, Comrade Timi Frank, told reporters today in Abuja that Nigerians and the world must not allow the missing billions to be swept under the carpet.
He said what the President sees, as good for suspending Mallam Lamido Sanusi as CBN Governor to probe the organisation must also be good for Mrs. Diezani to probe NNPC and that it is unfortunate that the President who said that no money was missing during his last Presidential Media chat, only days later secured the service of a foreign forensic organisation to probe the missing billions.
“Why is the President now interested in probing the NNPC when he had said that if any money was missing the American Government would have known? How did the government arrive at the auditing firm when there is a Procurement Act that was not adhered to, there was no tender as the law required for such action.
Why is Jonathan protecting Diezani who allegedly mismanaged billions of tax payers’ money on private jets and travels, when the same President sacked Stella Oduah as Minister over the N225 million bullet proof cars? Diezani must be suspended now as what is good for Sanusi must be good for Diezani,” Frank said.
He said it was outrageous that despite the existence of over five reports of forensic audits of NNPC, President Jonathan is set to spend another huge amount of money on another auditing, wondering if the new audit was not meant to upturn the indictment of the Minister and other NNPC officials to now favour the government.
He also asked the President to suspend the Group Managing Director (GMD) of NNPC, Mr. Andrew Yakubu and other officials to pave way for the success of the audit if the President is serious about fighting corruption.
On the abduction of the Chibok school girls, he said the corruption which the president was encouraging rather that fighting was responsible, saying the missing $20 billion would have done a lot in the nation’s economy including the security sector.
He also condemned the Police for disrupting the Chibok schoolgirls protesters and the peaceful protest of Polytechnics and Colleges of Education lecturers and student, saying FCT Commissioner of Police must not be allowed to repeat his onslaught against Rivers residents in FCT.
