Delta State Police command has said that no policeman or vigilante has the right to arrest ladies over wearing of bum shorts, mini-skirts or going out without brassieres.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, who made this known in a video he posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, said that none of the dress codes was an offence, hence, no security personnel has the right or directives to arrest or harass anyone.
According to Edafe, “I have been getting complaints that members of the public, particularly Deltans, are being harassed sometimes by vigilantes, anti-cult, hunters association and some recalcitrant police officers.
“I want to make it very clear that on the issue of dress code, improper dressing, boys carrying dreadlocks, wearing earrings, girls wearing bum shorts or mini-skirts or girls going out without bra; it is not an offence.

“That circular was debunked by the state government, hence, no policeman or vigilante or anti-cult or anybody can harass you for that. If they insist that it is an offence, you also should insist that the matter should be taken to a police station, and when you get to a police station, reach out to me.’’
