The Bible Summit Church theatre, last Sunday, staged a play ‘You Choose’ with an aim to awaken the consciousness of people in making the right decisions.

The producer of the play, Pastor Andy Osakwe said the church uses theatre as a platform to produce life-changing plays that will shape the culture and affect the society in a positive way.

Speaking on the production, he said, the play emphasised the power of decision people take  in life  which either make or mar them.

For Tayo Yoti, a major character who played the role of the spirit of flesh, “the flesh is constantly contending with the spirit of life in people, making them take decisions against their wish.

“The decision we make in life pushes us either towards good or bad. There is a part where I was actually contending for a soul and it struck me that this is how we are taking life decisions and we are not aware that some decisions are influenced spiritually, while we are living our lives in the physical, Life is constantly a spiritually battle.”

Yoti advised people to guide their life because things that seem like pleasure could be instruments of distraction used by the devil.

The director of the play, Hilda Harrison, said the theatre arm of the Church “projects Godly plays that will impact lives and cause mind shift  which deals with societal issues that enable  people know who they are and where they ought to be.

“The vision of the Summit Theater is actually to fill the earth with God’s kingdom through entertainment as well as help young people discover their talent.

Harrison was inspired to pick the title, ‘You Choose’ because “we are in the last days as such believers need spiritual awakening.

“Theatre reflects and impacts society rather than just entrainment. ‘You choose’ was Godly inspired. We also train young people not just in performing arts but spiritually, professionally, and character-wise to impact the world and bring about change because we believe there is assignment for actors on earth. We are helping them to maximize their potential.”

According to her, “the Church does not really understand what acting is all about because they have not opened up to accept that is a gift from God which must be guarded jealously if not the devil could use it for his own agenda.”
