The Interim Management Committee of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has condemned the recent bombings in Maiduguri, Borno State.

In a statement, Buhari Shehu, Chairman, Interim Management Committee, lamented  the tragic loss of lives and destruction of property.

“On behalf of all Nigerian youth, we extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and all those affected by these unfortunate incidents. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Maiduguri during this difficult time. No Nigerian should be subjected to such fear and trauma in their own community.

“While we acknowledge and commend the prompt deployment of security personnel, including soldiers, to affected areas, we emphasize that this must be part of a broader, sustained strategy to prevent further attacks. The response is commendable, but proactive measures, including strengthened intelligence gathering and community-based security efforts, are equally critical and should be utilized at all times.

“The NYCN recognizes the ongoing efforts of the government in addressing insecurity not only in Maiduguri but also in other parts of the country. However, we strongly call the government to intensify these efforts and work round the clock to ensure the safety of lives and property. More decisive and coordinated actions are needed to tackle the evolving security challenges facing the nation.

“We also call on Nigerian youths to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of security agencies as they carry out their duties. Collective responsibility and unity are essential in overcoming these challenges.”
