The Youth Farmers Organization for Agricultural Development in Nigeria (YFOADN) has commended Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Dangote Industries Limited for their role in national development, particularly through the Dangote Refinery and other industrial initiatives that support food security and youth empowerment.
The commendation was made during the 1st National Food Security Summit held in Abuja on Monday, where the National President of YFOADN, Amb. Abdulrahman Umar Etudaye, presented his welcome address.
Etudaye praised Dangote for his “patriotism, industrial innovation, and dedication to Nigeria’s growth,” describing the Dangote Refinery as a “national asset and symbol of hope” that demonstrates the potential of visionary leadership.
He also extended appreciation to the Vice President of Dangote Industries Limited, Mr. Devakumar G. Edwin, for his partnership with youth groups, noting that the company’s support enabled the successful implementation of the Youth Rice Farmer Project in collaboration with the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority.
According to Etudaye, fifty young Nigerians were trained in modern rice farming techniques at the Ejiba Agricultural Hub in Kogi State, adding that the initiative has produced “champions of innovation and productivity contributing to the country’s food supply chain.”
The YFOADN leader announced plans to expand the organization’s agricultural projects across Abuja, Niger, and Ondo States, focusing on rice, fish, and livestock farming. He also unveiled the Youth in Agriculture Programme (YIAP) and the Youth Empowerment Farm Project, aimed at enhancing youth participation in agribusiness across tertiary institutions.
Etudaye disclosed that YFOADN would launch a nationwide sensitization campaign in Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones to educate citizens on the importance of national assets like the Dangote Refinery and Fertilizer Plant in promoting agricultural growth and rural development. The campaign will be conducted in English, Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba languages.
The youth group also lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his administration’s efforts to strengthen food security through agrarian reforms and mechanization. Etudaye commended the Ministers of Agriculture and Food Security, Livestock Development, and members of the National Assembly committees on agriculture for their policy and legislative support.
He emphasized that achieving food security requires collective effort, calling on the private sector, government, and youth organizations to collaborate in building a sustainable agricultural future.
“The 1st National Food Security Summit is not merely a platform for dialogue — it is a movement for transformation,” Etudaye said. “Let us rise together to cultivate hope, empower our youth, and secure Nigeria’s future through sustainable agriculture.”
