Youth group backs Sheriff as next APC chair

A Coalition of APC Youth in Nigeria has thrown its weight behind the former governor of Borno State, Alhaji Ali Modu Sheriff, as the next National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The group, in a statement issued on Sunday, said Sheriff should contest the national chairmanship at next year’s national convention with a view to saving the party from its lingering crisis, expressing confidence in his ability to take the party to greater heights.

The statement jointly signed by National President Musa Muhammad and National Secretary Godwin Terwase Kugba described Sheriff as a man of timber and calibre who can neither be manipulated nor intimidated.

The youth said only the former Borno State governor has the capacity to resolve the current crisis rocking the party and reconcile all warring factions.
