Hundreds of protestors massing up at the Unity Fountain, Maitama Abuja to insist that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) goes ahead to hold the general elections as scheduled.

Under the aegis of Youth Advocacy for Change (Y4C), the group says February 14 which is scheduled for the presidential polls must remain.

They are planning to march down to INEC to insist on the election dates.

There have been counter agitations by individuals and some groups that the elections being postponed while others say elections must hold as planned.

Proponents of shift in the dates say there was need for time for more people to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) from INEC.

Those against the shift fear that government was planning to scuttle the electoral process by the postponement.

On Friday, Special Assistant on Media to the president Doyin Okupe addressed a news conference saying the presidency is of the view that the polls being postponed claiming citing a field report of unpreparedness by INEC and insecurity in some part of the country.
