The 2025 edition of the ILMMD MCPDE Leadership Conference and Colloquium held in Abuja on December 5 brought together top government officials, development experts and institutional leaders to reflect on Nigeria’s leadership future under the theme, “Leaders Beyond the Norm.”
One of the notable figures at the event was Dr Emem Aniekanabasi Alban, a Platinum Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Leadership, Management and Manpower Development (ILMMD), whose participation added depth to the conversations around ethical governance, institutional reform and transformational leadership. The conference also recorded the presence of representatives of the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, strengthening youth-focused engagement at the forum.
The gathering, convened by ILMMD’s Director of Membership Services, Dr Theophilus Cornerstone, served as a strategic platform for policymakers, researchers, administrators and development practitioners from within and outside Nigeria to examine leadership models capable of driving sustainable national and regional growth.
A major highlight of the event was the posthumous honour conferred on the late Alhaji Alhassan Aminu Dantata, with his family receiving the recognition on his behalf. The tribute celebrated his enduring legacy of enterprise, philanthropy and national service, which organisers described as consistent with the institute’s values of excellence and impact.
Speaking on the significance of the recognition, organisers noted that celebrating exemplary leadership, both past and present, remains central to ILMMD’s mission of promoting ethical and performance-driven leadership across sectors.
Dr Emem’s participation at the conference reaffirmed her long-standing advocacy for leadership development, particularly in agriculture, humanitarian service and community-based initiatives. As a Platinum Fellow, she continues to advance ILMMD’s principles of integrity, competence and accountability while supporting initiatives aligned with national sustainability goals.
The conference also featured the formal induction of new members across different professional categories, further expanding the institute’s growing international network of leadership practitioners committed to continuous capacity development and service excellence.
