The Senate of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has commended the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Student Engagement, Sunday Adedayo Asefon, for their continued support toward strengthening student leadership in Nigeria.

The commendation followed the facilitation of a brand-new Sienna bus to support the activities of the six zonal coordinators of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

In a statement issued by the President of the NAPS Senate, Comrade Oyewumi Festus Ayomide, the association described the gesture as a significant contribution to youth development and the effective coordination of student activities across the country.

Ayomide said the intervention demonstrates the commitment of both government officials to the welfare of Nigerian students and the advancement of student leadership structures.

“The recent facilitation of a brand-new Sienna bus to support the activities of the six zonal coordinators of the National Association of Nigerian Students is a commendable gesture that reflects the genuine concern both leaders have for the growth of student leadership and youth development across the country,” he said.

He added that the move signals renewed government attention to student bodies and strengthens the relationship between government institutions and student representatives.

“This intervention is not only timely but also symbolic of the renewed attention the present administration is giving to the voices and operations of student bodies in Nigeria,” Ayomide stated.

According to him, the support will help student leaders better represent the interests of millions of students nationwide.

The NAPS Senate president also encouraged the minister and the presidential aide to sustain their efforts in supporting student organisations and youth initiatives.

“Your dedication to empowering young leaders and strengthening student institutions has not gone unnoticed within the Nigerian student community,” he said.

While appreciating the gesture, Ayomide appealed for broader inclusion of other student organisations in similar interventions, noting that groups such as NAPS and other allied bodies represent a large segment of the Nigerian student population.

He said ensuring inclusiveness among student unions would promote unity, fairness and collective progress within the Nigerian student movement.

Ayomide reaffirmed the association’s commitment to partnering with government institutions in advancing youth development and national progress.
