Youth urged to embrace agriculture

He spoke during his conferment with a meritorious service award for human capital development, organised by Omu-Aran Youth Forum (OYF) in Kwara State.
He said that agriculture remained the only veritable means of eradicating poverty and ending the country’s food insufficiency, adding that many developing nations that have embraced agriculture have boosted their economies.
Adebayo urged the youth to take advantage of some agriculture based institutions like the Landmark University, Omu Aran and Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority in Ilorin to develop dry season farming.
He said: “Our youth should promote agriculture. They should promote training through vocational skill acquisition since it has become very difficult to engage the numerous graduates with white collar jobs.”
The OYF President, Mr Yemi Aransiola, unveiled a 4-point proposal for Community-Based Economic Empowerment Programme (COBEEP) to develop the community.
He listed the proposed schemes to include food for all, educational development, SME promotion and skill acquisition.
