The YouthHub Africa, a promoter of youth independence in Nigeria, said it has conducted a validation of the newly developed National Youth Agenda.

In a statement, the organization said it conducted it with support from the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

“This youth agenda was developed after reviewing all existing youth policies and plans in Nigeria and Africa. The one-day validation meeting had representatives from Youth groups across Nigeria, civil society organisations and the federal ministries.

“This youth agenda will be collated with the women’s and persons with disability agenda as an overarching advocacy task- Governance Agenda for an Inclusive Nigeria (GAIN),” it noted. 

The organization said during the week, it also had a discussion on how Nigerians can hold leaders to account.

“It might interest you to learn that recalling or impeaching a leader is one method to hold leaders accountable for their promises. On the #Activecitizenship radio show, we hosted Obinna Osisiogu (Founder Ace Centre and Convener, We Vote Nigeria), who shared insights on how we can hold leaders accountable beyond the 2023 elections.”

Key nuggets he shared also include, citizens must constantly be on the lookout for the manifesto and call out their leaders when they are derailing. The price for democracy is constant vigilance.
