The First Lady of Yobe State, Hajiya Hafsat Kollere-Buni, has called on Nigerian youth to embrace purposeful living guided by Islamic values, warning that neglecting their development could jeopardize the future of the country.

Speaking at the Light of Guidance Youth Conference 2025 in Abuja, she emphasized the importance of empowering young people.

“This is not just another program; it is a message of hope, a call to action, and a reminder that our youth are our greatest treasure,” she said.

The conference, organized by the Light of Guidance Foundation in partnership with the Ma’aruf Foundation, focused on the theme, “Our Youth, Our Future — Living a Life of Purpose Using the Divine Light of Guidance.”

During her address, Hajiya Hafsat stated, “If we guide them with the light of Islam, they will carry our communities forward with honor and dignity. But if we neglect them, we risk losing not only their future but ours as well.” She urged attendees to take the lessons seriously, encouraging them to be inspired and to live a purposeful life guided by the Qur’an and Sunnah.

Mohammad Khamis Ahmad, the Executive Director of the Light of Guidance Foundation, said the event was organized to address the increasing lack of direction among young people.
