The Janbulo Youths Development Association (JYDA) has donated school uniforms worth over N100, 000.00 to over 80 orphans in Dorayi ward of Gwale local government, Kano state.
The gesture was meant to give succor to the less privileged to enable them acquire basic education like their peers from well-to-do families.
Speaking during the handing over of the uniforms to the village Head of Dorayi Babba, Malam Musa Badamasi Bello, for onward distribution to the beneficiaries, the President of the Association, Abdulfatah Magaji, expressed concern over the situation of the less privileged children in accessing quality education in the area.
Magaji, therefore, called on wealthy individuals in the state to invest in the education of the indigent children especially the less privileged among them to enable them shape their future.
“We have observed that many children in this area do not go to school simply because they cannot not afford uniforms and other learning materials. In order to lend a helping hand to these children, most of whom are orphans, we come up with this initiative to assist them in our little way,” he said.
The Councilor of Dorayi ward, Malam Jibrin Mu’azu commended the association for identifying with the needy in the area, saying if other organizations could emulate JYDA much development in the area of child education could be achieved.
“This is a very commendable initiative and I think if other organizations can replicate what these young men have done the future of our children in this area will be brighter. Gone are the days when people wait for government to do everything for them, societies have critical role to play, as such I am calling on other youths organizations to look back to their younger ones especially the under-privileged and orphans in their respective communities,” he urged.
He emphasized that the local government council was always willing to partner with any group that seeks to add value to the lives of the people especially the indigent and vulnerable children.
