Katsina State indigenes resident in the nation’s capital, Abuja, under the auspices of Concerned Katsina Youth Vanguard, have lamented over the recent spate of killings across several villages and communities in the State.
In a statement issued by its spokesman, Mallam Abu Abubakar Makera in Abuja, the group, said the situation was not only displacing thousands of people internally but now forcing a gradual exodus into neighbouring countries where they were often maltreated.

Makera maintained that many of those non-state actors who are laying siege on their communities had plunged them into a state of helplessness, adding that killings that ordinarily seemed frightening had become a usual occurrence in most Katsina communities.
Makera revealed that in December 2019 alone over 29 attacks were launched on different communities within Dutsin-Ma local government, adding that the area had recorded the highest armed attacks in the region.
“Also on 4th July 2022, bandits gathered at a village close to Zakka planned a major attack on Dutsin-Ma and surrounding.”
The very next day, the advance team of the presidential convoy was attacked at Marke village in Makera ward of Dutsin-Ma LGA and that same day, the gallant Police Area Commandant who attempted to comfort them with his team, was ambushed and killed.”
He said these were among attacks that took place within a month in addition to other attacks witnessed earlier in the year.
“It is obvious that the situation is beyond the security agents attached to the state. Therefore, we are using this medium to call on the federal government to deploy more security to the area before it is too late. Mr. President should act now.”
