Youths urge minister to appoint aide on youth affairs

Some youths in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have called on the minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, to appoint a special assistant on youth affairs.
The president of the Abuja Original Inhabitants Youth Empowerment Organisation (AOIYEO), Isaac David, in a letter to the minister said such appointment would give the youth a sense of belonging in his administration.
David, who said this while briefing journalists, also commended the minister for directing political appointees seeking to contest to resign, said the natives would appreciate it if the minister appointed natives to fill the vacant positions.
“The indigenes also called on the minister to appoint a special assistant to the minister on youth matters as is done in other states given the status of the FCT as a state,” adding that the youths of the FCT have not been properly positioned in the FCTA.
He said they also observed that there was no special adviser political to the minister, adding that the challenge of managing and effectively coordinating the forthcoming elections in the FCT requires a tested and trusted protégé that he could consider from among the FCT youths.
