The State Commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abia State Command, Umuahia, Ayinla Taiye Olowo, has assured residents of the State of adequate security before, during and after Christmas and New year celebrations.
Ayinla stated this shortly after a crucial meeting with Heads of Departments/Units, Area Commanders, Divisional Officers and Commanders of Tactical Teams of the Command.
While handing down the Command’s operational order for the season, the State Commandant said, “This action is in strict compliance with the directives of the Commandant General- Ahmed Abubakar Audi PhD mni that lives of residents and Critical National Assets and Infrastructure of government must be protected by all means and this must be fully implemented to the later.
“The season at hand is replete with increased activities with it’s attendant security, traffic and related issues but I assure the residents that from the Command’s operational order, adequate security arrangements in terms of Personnel and logistics deployments have been made.”
The State Commandant further disclosed that the command has increased patrol activities in the three (3) Senatorial Zones of the while deployments have also been strategically made and surveillance activities intensified in and around already identified black spots and key locations such as event Centers, Worship Centers, Markets/ Shopping Malls and other places that usually witness large gatherings during the Yuletide.”
Meanwhile, Commandant Ayinla has charged all Personnel of the Command deployed for Christmas and New year duties to adopt international best practices in the discharge of their assigned duties adding that any act of unprofessional conduct shall not be condoned.
He, therefore, appealed to the Christian faithful to remain law abiding and use the period to pray for peace in Nigeria.
