As part of its end of the year activities, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), Abuja chapter has donated several relief materials to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp at Kuchingoro, Abuja.

The items donated included clothes, drugs, antiseptics, soaps, beverages and food items including bags of rice, beans and garri.

During the visit at the weekend, the chairman of the chapter, Barr Chikwendu Madumere, said the chapter annually, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), identified a need in the society and tried to meet it.

“This is the end of the year; Christmas is just by the corner. So, as part of our end of the year activities, we try to show the human side of things. Life is not just about acquiring, but it is a good thing to give.

“You cannot imagine the pain of being dislocated from your ancestry to be living in an open place like this (camp). So we identified with them and we thought we should come and show them our love and kindness.”

He advised that people should find it in their hearts to put the (CSR) as part of their yearly agenda.

The chairman of the camp, Othniel Emmanuel, while appreciating the arbitrators, called on other Nigerians to come to their aid.

He said the population of the camp is currently 1,573 and that most of the IDPs are from Gwoza in Borno State.

He said they have encouraged themselves to go out into the town to source for means of livelihood. “As majority of us are farmers, we have encouraged ourselves to go and look for were we can farm,” he added.
