In the spirit of Christmas, the Nigerian Defence Academy Officers Wives Association (NDAOWA) has supported wounded soldiers currently receiving treatment at the 44 Nigerian Army Referral Hospital with food and non-food items to cushion the effect of inflation at this festive period. 

Arewa Trust Weekly reports that the association also gave food items and cash to 75 military and civilian widows at the Ribadu Cantonment. 

Speaking at the 44 Nigerian Army Referral Hospital, Kaduna, the NDAOWA Coordinator, Mrs Aisha Yusuf, commended the resilience and doggedness of the soldiers, and acknowledged their sacrifices in the fight for the peace of the nation. 

Mrs Yusuf said although the fight is not over, victory will be theirs as she assured them of the association’s continuous prayers for their full recovery. She also assured the widows of continuous support while urging them to care for their families. 

The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Colonel Ndidi Onuchukwu, said the hospital is the flagship hospital of the Nigerian Army which provides services for personnel, their families and civilians. He lamented that they are challenged by the prolonged hospitalisation of wounded soldiers which leads to untoward consequences on the morale of troops.
