The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Gwagwalada is deploying 50 special marshals from today on Abuja-Lokoja road to ease traffic congestion on the road as Christmas approaches.

The Gwagwalada FRSC unit coordinator, Alhaji Hassan Abdulyakeen,  stated this at the ember months’ flag-off in Gwagwalada, yesterday. 

He said the 50 marshals would be drawn from Zuba, Giri and Gwagwalada, and would join the regular marshals on the road along Zuba-Tungan Maje-Giri-Gwagwalada down to Kwali to ensure free vehicular movement.

He said his men would be on standby with the regular marshals at some black spots along the highway, such that where there’s an accident they would, without delay, jointly embark on rescue operation thus  avoiding traffic obstruction.

The Gwagwalada unit commander of the FRSC, ACC Sunday O. Attah, cautioned motorists conveying travellers in the Christmas period to ensure they maintained speed limit.

He also warned motorists, especially commercial drivers, against overloading, dangerous driving and overtaking at bends. He added that passengers boarding vehicles should ensure that they are captured in the passengers manifest.

The corps commander called on government official drivers and convoys to obey traffic rules and regulations while plying the highways.

He stated that  mobile courts would be put in place to prosecute drivers that violate road traffic rules and regulations.
