The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 5,000 personnel ahead of the celebrations of Christmas and New Year to ensure adequate security in the state.
The spokesman of the command, Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement on Friday.
He said, “As we are in the countdown to celebrate Christmas and New Year, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kano Command, is poised and ever-ready to provide maximum security during and after the festive period in the state.
“Against this backdrop, the state’s commandant, Adamu Idris Zakari, has approved the deployment of over 5,000 regular officers and volunteers for peaceful and hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebrations.

“While the focus is to ensure safety of lives and protection of all critical national assets and infrastructure across nooks and crannies of the state, special attention will be paid and security coverage prioritised around strategic places, particularly churches and recreational centres.
“The public is hereby enjoined to celebrate responsibly and modestly as the corps will never condone brazen breach of public peace.”
