Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has called on the people of the state to use the Christmas period to pray for unity, peace and progress in the country.

In his Christmas message, the governor described the season as a time of love, sacrifice, peace and renewed hope.

He urged Edo residents to reflect on the enduring values of selflessness, unity and compassion that the birth of Christ represents.

Okpebholo noted that Christmas offers an opportunity for families and communities to come together in harmony, while also reaching out to the less privileged and vulnerable members of society.

He called on the people to use the festive period to promote peaceful coexistence, mutual respect and tolerance across religious and ethnic lines.

While expressing gratitude to the people of the state for their continued support, the governor urged residents to celebrate responsibly and observe safety measures during the festive season, and offered prayers for peace, progress and prosperity in Edo State and Nigeria at large.
