The Federal Capital Territory Administration has announced that over 700 men of the Directorate of Road Traffic Service popularly called VIO will be deployed to the nook and crannies of the territory to help maintain sanity on the roads before, during and after the yuletide season.

The Director of the Service, Wadata A.D Bodinga, made this known while fielding questions from our City News Editor in Abuja.

The DRTS boss said his men would also be stationed at both the entry and exit points to the nation’s capital in order to check the excesses of the drivers.

He warned that any driver that fails to obey traffic rules would be arrested and prosecuted.

Bodinga said the Service has, for the past few weeks, been preparing its officials on how to ensure crash-less festive periods on all the roads within the territory.

This, he said, included seminars, conferences and enlightenment campaigns for the motorists.

The DRTS boss also warned motorcyclists and Keke-NAPEP operators to operate only on the approved routes, warning that anyone caught violating the existing rules on their operations would be sanctioned accordingly.

While wishing the motorists and residents of the territory a blissful celebration, Bodinga reminded them that it is only when they are alive and healthy that they can celebrate with their loved ones.
