The Senate has confirmed Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf as Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON). His confirmation followed the adoption of a report by the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, chaired by Senator Abubakar Sani Bello (APC, Niger North), which conducted the screening.

During Thursday’s plenary, the Senate also approved Alhaji Saidu Usman Dakingari as a non-career ambassador.

Additionally, the Senate confirmed Rear Admiral Jamila Abubakar Sadiq (Rtd) as a National Electoral Commissioner for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), representing the North-East geopolitical zone.

Senator Simon Bako Lalong (APC, Plateau South), chair of the Senate Committee on Electoral Matters that screened Sadiq, stated that she possesses the requisite knowledge and expertise to serve effectively in the role and therefore recommended her confirmation.
