Zakat foundation fetes widows, orphans in Kwara

The Kwara State chapter of Zakat and Sadaqah Foundation has distributed food items and cash to widows and orphans in the state.

Speaking during the distribution exercise tagged ‘Memorable Ramadan’ in Ilorin, the state capital, the foundation’s female coordinator, Hajiya Bashirat Abdulraheem Oluwakemi, said the gesture was to ameliorate their challenges.

According to her, the goal of the ‘Memorable Ramadan’ was to share in their pains and struggles and identify with them and their families after the loss of their breadwinners.

“The little we have is what we are sharing to about 50 beneficiaries. We had hoped to do more because there are more than 300 widows that registered.

“We implore the well-to-do individuals and organisations in the country to partner with us to make the difference in their lives,” she added.

Items distributed included rice, beans, semovita, vegetable oil, salt, sugar and N5,000 cash.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Hajiya Khadijah Abdulraheem Olateju thanked the foundation for the gesture.
