Sokoto Zakkat Commission has provided N6.5 million support to patients in the state.

Speaking during the disbusement exercise, the Chairman of the commission, Malam Lawal Maidoki, said it was meant for those who could not afford medications.

The money was disbursed to various committees in hospitals and medicine stores across the state.

Specialist Hospital received N1.5million while Usman Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital received N1million because of JOHESU strike.

Maidoki noted with concern that some of their psychiatric patients were sent away from the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Kware by the striking workers.

The chairman, who condemned the strike, however recommended a law banning health workers from embarking on strike both at the federal, state and local government level.
