A student of Zamani College, Kaduna, Fadilah Saliu-Ahmed has emerged the overall winner of the 2016 edition of the Bishop Mike Okonkwo National Essay Competition for Secondary School Students.
In a statement issued by the Group Manager, Operations, TREM
International, Rev. (Mrs.) Oluwayomi Uteh, Fadilah was said to have scored 75 percent in the first round of the competition and maintained the same grade to lead in the second round.
Quoting the competition’s Chief Examiner, Prof. T.A. Ezeigbo, the statement said that “Fadilah wrote with tact in a natural and effortless way. Her expressive ability and the application of necessary grammatically disposition, made her the first prize winner for this year’s competition.”
The winner, according to the organisers, will be issued a cheque of N100,000, a laptop, a plaque, while her school gets three sets of computers and a printer.”
Miss. Barakat Adebayo of Roshallom International School Egbeda, Lagos emerged the first runner up while Miss. Wuraola Adeoye of Fountain Height Secondary School, Lagos emerged the second runner up.
