Zamfara APC withdraws from today’s runoff poll

The APC in Zamfara State has withdrawn its participation from today’s runoff after the electoral body declared last Saturday’s state assembly by-election election in Bakura constituency inconclusive.

Announcing the decision, yesterday, at the party’s headquarters in Gusau, a former commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Ibrahim Muhammad Birnin Magaji, said the situation was reviewed and it was agreed that justice and security of lives and property could not be guaranteed during the election.

“We appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the shifting of the exercise to a more convenient date, not December 9th 2020, in order to correct the wrongs including the issue of security but INEC insisted that it would hold the election.

“We therefore wish to notify the Independent National Electoral Commission of our resolve not to participate in the said supplementary election holding December 9th 2020,” Birnin Magaji said while reading a statement signed by the State Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Sani Musa Talata Mafara.
