Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has commended security operatives, particularly the state police command, for recovering 504 rustled animals and weapons from bandits in Gummi Local Government Area of the state.
The governor gave the commendation following an operation by the Violence Crime Response Unit (VCRU) of the Zamfara State Police Command, which led to the recovery of 329 cattle and 175 sheep from bandits in Gambanda Forest.
In a statement on Saturday, Lawal described the operation as a major success in the ongoing fight against banditry and other criminal activities in the state.
He praised the resilience, bravery and professionalism displayed by the security operatives during the operation.

“I commend the effort of all the security operatives in Zamfara State, especially the Zamfara State Police Command, for its resilience, bravery and commitment in recovering 329 cattle, 175 sheep, weapons and ammunition from bandits,” the governor said.
According to him, the police engaged and overpowered the bandits during the operation, leading to the successful recovery of the livestock and other items.
Lawal said the feat underscored the commitment of security agencies to protecting lives and livelihoods in the state despite the challenges posed by criminal elements.
He noted that the operation demonstrated the growing capacity of security agencies to confront banditry and restore confidence among residents.
The governor also lauded the Commissioner of Police in the state, Ahmed Muhammad Bello, for providing effective leadership and direction to officers and men of the command.
“The remarkable display of bravery and the successful recovery of livestock and weapons highlight the strong leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Muhammad Bello. His guidance has been instrumental in improving public safety and combating banditry,” he said.
Lawal reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies through the provision of logistics and other necessary assistance to enhance their operations.
“My administration remains committed to providing support to all security agencies in their efforts to ensure safety and security for our people,” he added.
The governor expressed optimism that sustained collaboration among security agencies would further strengthen efforts to tackle insecurity and restore lasting peace across Zamfara State.
