The Zamfara State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWATSAN) has launched a Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Coordination Centre to improve access to clean water and sanitation services across the state.
The initiative was unveiled during an inception meeting convened by the Programme Manager of RUWATSAN, Dr Abubakar Nasir Galadima.
Galadima described the centre as a strategic platform aimed at harmonising interventions, strengthening partnerships and improving service delivery in the WASH sector.
He said the coordination centre would bring together government agencies, development partners, civil society organisations and private sector stakeholders to improve collaboration and information sharing.

According to him, the initiative aligns with Goal 6 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which focuses on ensuring access to clean water and sanitation for all.
Participants at the meeting included representatives of ministries, departments and agencies, local government councils, development partners and community-based organisations.
Stakeholders were urged to deepen collaboration, improve data sharing and support innovative approaches to addressing public health challenges in underserved communities.
RUWATSAN said the coordination centre would help build a more effective and unified WASH system capable of improving public health outcomes across Zamfara State.
