‘Zamfara paid N340m for Federal University land’

The Federal University, Gusau, has said that the Zamfara Government has paid N340 million as compensation for the land acquired for the institution.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Magaji Garba, confirmed  this during the third Matriculation ceremony for 2016/2017 academic session.

“’In addition, many well-meaning Nigerians have indicated their interest to support the university in various capacity.

“I wish to extend my sincere thanks to the government of Zamfara state,” he said.

Magaji, who described the university as young, said it was necessary to put in place an administrative structure.

According to him, the Governing Council had appointed a Deputy Vice Chancellor, substantive Bursar and an acting University Librarian to improve its administration.

“The university has recorded some moderate achievements since last the Matriculation in 2015/2016 academic session, like the male hostel which has been occupied.” (NAN)
