Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has pledged full support to the families of the Zamfara Community Protection Guards (CPG) members who lost their lives fighting banditry.
He disclosed this during a ceremony at the government house in Gusau, where 20 CPG members were honoured with medals for their exceptional performance.
In a statement released by the governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, it was revealed that the decorated guards were led by Brig General Lawal Bature Mohammed (Rtd), the commandant of the guards.
The statement reads in part: “On Thursday, Governor Dauda Lawal decorated 20 Community Protection Guards (CPGs) who performed extraordinarily well in discharging their duties. All 20 guards were at the frontline fighting bandits to ensure the return of peace in Zamfara State.”

Governor Lawal reiterated his administration’s commitment to the welfare of the guards and their families, emphasising the importance of recognising and motivating them for their bravery and service to the state and humanity.
