Zaria Academy has been nominated to benefit from the Wireless Cloud Project (WCP), a Nigerian Communication’s Commission (NCC) initiative under its Schools’ Support Program (SSP).

A spokesman of the academy S. A. Obande said the development was communicated to the Academy via a letter dated May 5th, 2016 which highlighted the immense benefit of WCP program to the academy as well as the infrastructure to be provided by the commission for the smooth running of the program.

“This project which will last 12 months in its initial stage would provide Zaria Academy with bandwidth supply and technical maintenance support, all of which is aimed at encouraging the use of ICT in academic development and facilitate easier access to the vast intellectual resources available globally,” Obande quoted the letter.

He said the Zaria Academy has made huge strides towards developing a wholly ICT culture towards education and that some of the ICT resources already available in the school are 265 fully networked desktop computers distributed across three computer laboratories and which have been used to conduct JAMB Examination.

He added that there were also wired and wireless Internet connections via their Microtik platform with Globacom as its internet service provider; an Electronic learning platform based on the Modular Object Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment (MOODLE), which is a learning platform designed to provide educators, administrators and learners with a single robust, secure and integrated system to create personalised learning environments.

He said the academy hopes to use the infrastructure obtained via the NCC project to further enhance its position as one of the foremost ICT-oriented schools in the country.
