Sumayyah Shuaibu Salisu, an 18-year-old teenager in Zaria, Kaduna State, who wrote words of the Holy Qur’an by heart in three months, has said she hopes to become a computer scientist and an Islamic scholar.

She had memorised the complete Holy Qur’an at an early age. She participated in the national Quranic competition in 2021 and 2022 and won the first and third positions respectively.

Born in Jega, Kebbi State, Sumayyah started her Islamic education in Madina, Saudi Arabia before returning to Nigeria in 2018.

Speaking to Daily Trust in Zaria, Sumayyah said: “So far, I have written a complete Holy Qur’an with my hand without any guide from anyone or copying from any text in three months. I’m now writing the second. By Allah’s will, I would complete it too within a month or more.

“Writing the Holy Qur’an has always been my dream, and I thank Almighty Allah for fulfilling my age-long ambition.

“It took me three months to write the complete Qur’an despite my academic engagements. I’m a secondary school II student and I also teach at Al-Mu’assasa Islah Foundation School in Unguwar Dan Dutse, Tudun Wada, Zaria, founded by my father.

“I had earlier memorized the entire Quran at a tender age and in 2021, I participated in the national Quranic competition and won the first position at 60 hizf with tafseer, I also participated in the same competition in 2022 where I became third,” she recalled.

She has also been acting as Alaramma (reciter of the Holy Qur’an) to her father, Sheikh Shuaibu Salisu Zaria during  tafseer.

“My next dream is to become a computer scientist and an Islamic scholar,” she said.
