Zazzau emirate limits district heads to 30 horses for Sallah festival

The Zazzau Emirate Council has directed all district heads to limit the number of horses to 30 each during the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr Sallah horse riding festivities.

It said the directive applies to both district heads with and without portfolios.

A statement by Malam Yusuf Abubakar Hayat, secretary to the Emirate Council, said all district heads must comply.

Also, the statement mandated the 31 district heads with portfolios to participate in the Sallah horse riding, as agreed upon by the council.

“All district heads wishing to participate in the Sallah horse riding must submit a written notice of intent by Friday, March 14, 2025,” the statement added.

Zazzau Emirate has long placed significant cultural importance on horse riding, particularly during the Eid-el-Fitr and Eid-el-Kabir festivals. These events serve to showcase the emirate’s rich heritage, attracting thousands of visitors from across Nigeria and beyond.
