A new champion will be crowned at the 2025 Zenith Bank/Delta Principals’ Cup as two debutant schools, Ogbe-Ijoh Grammar School, Warri South West, and Otokutu Grammar School, Ughelli South, have advanced to the grand finale.
The annual tournament, which kicked off on September 18 in Asaba, has reached its climax with both finalists earning their spots after thrilling semifinal encounters. At Notre Dame College, Ozoro, Ogbe-Ijoh Grammar School played out a tense 2-2 draw against Justice Peace & Success Academy, Aniocha South, before triumphing 5-4 in a nerve-wracking penalty shootout.
In the second semifinal at Government College, Ughelli, Otokutu Grammar School produced a commanding performance, defeating Urhobo College, Uvwie, 3-0 to secure their first-ever final appearance.
The much-anticipated final will be staged at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, on Thursday, October 16. The day’s events will begin with the third-place match between Justice Peace & Success Academy and Urhobo College before the championship decider.
Over 1,000 secondary schools began the journey in the preliminary rounds, all vying to dethrone reigning champions, Ugbomro Secondary School, who claimed the 2024 title with a 2-0 win over Umutu Mixed School.
