‘Zimbabwe can learn from Nigeria’s food security policy’

Air Vice-Marshal Moyo stated this yesterday in Abuja during a courtesy visit to the Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development Dr. Akinwumi Adesina at the ministry’s headquarters.
He said his visit was to try and understand how Nigerian institutions of government contribute to national security which included agriculture and food security and energy security among others.
In her response, Minister for State Agriculture and Rural Development, Hajiya Asabe Asmau Ahmed who stood in for the Minister told the delegation that no nation will achieve national security without food security.
Mrs. Ahmed advised the delegation to look at several areas of cooperation between Zimbabwe and Nigeria in terms of agriculture and food security.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mrs Odusote Ibukun highlighted several areas which Zimbabwe could learn from the country’s Agricultural Transformation Agenda to include the E-wallet system of getting farm inputs to farmers.
Mrs Ibukun said Nigeria’s programme of producing crops in both wet and dry seasons has helped the country to achieved food security.
