Perhaps, the most heated debate over the 2023 Presidential elections, centres on which region should produce the next president.
The news that APC is waiting on PDP before it decides where it will zone its presidential ticket is totally unacceptable. It is even worrisome to think that APC is nursing the idea of handing its presidential ticket to a northerner .
In my opinion, it is the duty of the APC to give a clear direction on zoning as a ruling party, without prejudice to where PDP decides to hoist its flag.
When President Obasanjo was about to hand over power in 2007, the ruling party then was clear on which region should fly its ticket.
Irrespective of where PDP zones its presidential ticket, the moral burden is on APC to go south, anything aside from that will snowball into political commotion .
In 2003, the opposition party then, ANPP fielded a northerner while the ruling party continued with the ticket of a southerner to complete the constitutional eight years turn, so the problem has never been where the opposition directs its ticket, but where the ruling party heads.
The reason for the jolted debate over which region produces the presidency, is because APC as the ruling party has refused to come clean, provide leadership and take a categorical stand.
As far as zoning is concerned, the moral burden is on APC, President Buhari and not the PDP.
