I willlike to avail myself of this opportunity to express our profound appreciation and sincere gratitude to our president and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of APC, for their fair and free from bias decision. To me this choice is guided by truth, reason and fairness. It is an equitable treatment of all citizens. We the people of the North-East have been yearning and longing for the lofty and exalted chair since 2015, but some conspired and came through the back door and snatched it. Most Nigerians were unhappy with that insincere act.

However, because we are law abiding citizens we did not lodge any complaint or act out of the proportion of law. That is why it is good for any person to be patient and pacific, for in the end he will achieve his aims. Now, here it is. It has come to the zone.

The whole world knows the hell we were subjected to under the scoundrels and unprincipled elements. We were in unbearable torment and misery and neglected by the past administration as if we were not Nigerians worthy of concern and care. We were left and abandoned to our fate, companionless. We lost countless and innumerable lives and property. It is with the advent of President Muhammadu Buhari that we started feeling that yes, we are Nigerians and deserve to be protected and be concerned. Presently, most of our IDPs have gone back to their local governments and villages. Boko Haram have been degraded drastically. This was the main reason that made PMB to clear the zone in the last election overwhelmingly. I don’t know why some Nigerians were astounded for that. They should know that not all the people of the zone were killed by the barbaric and brutal Boko Haram. As such, my people have nothing to show their appreciation to the president and to the government in general but to give him landslide victory from the zone. I assume that it will not be incongruent if I say this zoning is a pat on the back of the North-East region. I may not be selfish or egocentric to appeal to the party chairman and his party to please figure out the senate president from Yobe State in the zone. We are most obliged.

Now my general beseech to our new National Assembly members more especially, the upper house. I adjure you to back the government and the president to serve this country better. You are sent to the National Assembly to represent Nigerians but not to represent yourselves or work for your personal interest. You were carefully sieved and sifted by your electorates before sending you there, therefore please don’t disappoint them.

The 8th Senate whose tenure is coming to an end very soon is a disgrace to Nigeria. They did not contribute any tangible accomplishment to the people apart from confrontation and showdown with PMB and his government. They were only good in delaying the budget only to sabotage the efforts of the government and hence cripple it. They refused to approve many candidates for appointment by Mr. President. They tried to capsize the election timetable. They wanted theirs to become first before that of the president so that they would conspire against him, but God was so kind that INEC did not yield to their bias need, and Nigerians were also against that wish. To me the leadership of that senate was not patriotic. Their discussions and deliberations mostly centered on themselves only. Nigerians are very happy now, because majority of them could not come back, for they have harvested what they planted. So the new members should take lesson. Nigerians are now well informed. They are now astute and discerning. Money and blarney cannot deliver. They assess and appraise before they choose. Their criteria are: incorruptibility, integrity, patriotism and sincerity of purpose. This is a clear indication that Nigerians of today do not base their choice of candidates on region, tribe or even party. But they selected their political candidates in regard to their candor, rectitude and virtues. To my understanding if one looks carefully and meditatively, why did some sitting governors lose their seat in the previous election while the president scored superb and marvelous  number of votes and the governors of these states belong to the same party with Mr. President?  So, this explicitly and unequivocally indicated that the people were not against the party or against Mr. President, but were against the governors. Most of those failed governors were not paying the salaries of their workers. They did not put any tangible establishment or erect any public structure. They were not aware that the masses were watching their activities and conduct which mostly concentrated on their personal selves and their families. Now, they have paid the price on that day of reckoning.

Based on what I expressed above, I am calling upon all politicians to be very vigilant and keenly watchful before they indulge in any unpopular assignments. This is to avoid being discarded by the electorate. See how governors, National Assembly members and so on lost their seats this time. My advice to you, do not underrate Nigerians anymore. We could remember when PMB came on board he bailed out many governors, but still some of them were not heedful or conscientious. To estrange disgrace you must do the needful.

By and large, my words to our northern members of the National Assembly, you have seen what befell your colleagues, how they were removed by their people, therefore, do something which will be appreciated by your electorate, or you will not come back in 2023. To be candid, our northern senators and members of the House of Representatives are not efficient and patriotic like their counterparts from the south. They do not visit their constituencies regularly. If they come at all, they would be in their hideouts.

Let us study the recent Kaduna State elections. Many people thought that Malam Nasiru El-rufai would lose the election, but to the contrary, his people re-elected him because of his achievements.
