The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Rabiu Garba Aiki of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Zuru State Constituency by-election for the Kebbi State House of Assembly.
Announcing the result at the collation centre, the Returning Officer, Prof. Muhammad Bashar Danladi of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi, said Aiki secured 4,871 votes to defeat his closest rival, Aliyu Galadima Muhammad of the Labour Party (LP), who polled 168 votes.
Danladi said the constituency has 109,385 registered voters, out of which 5,156 were accredited to participate in the election.
He added that 5,055 valid votes were cast, while 95 votes were rejected.

According to the ward-by-ward results, the APC maintained a commanding lead across all the 10 wards in the constituency, recording its highest vote tally in Rafin Zuru Ward, where it garnered 1,042 votes against the LP’s 63 votes.
The by-election was conducted following the vacancy created by the death of the former Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Zuru.
The election witnessed generally low voter turnout across the constituency, despite the peaceful conduct of the exercise. APC maintained a clear lead throughout the collation process to secure victory.
