Senate backtracks on presidential nominees

The Federal Executive Council yesterday approved a 100-page petroleum policy document to end fuel importation in 2019.

The Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, told State House reporters after the council meeting that government was pushing for a processing environment to move away from exporting to refining petroleum products.

He said the document also captured reorganization in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for efficiency and accountability as well as issues in the Niger Delta and how to focus on stability in the sector.
