The Lagos State Police Command has launched an investigation into the confession of a suspect, Omotayo Iwajomo, who allegedly admitted to land-related homicides and several robberies in the state.
Iwajomo is currently being detained at the homicide section of the Lagos State Criminal Investigations Department (SCID), Panti Street, Yaba.
While police have not released further details, citing an ongoing investigation, sources suggest the confession may be linked to a series of land disputes in the Lagos area.
Local residents have expressed concern about escalating violence related to land grabbing in Ikorodu, with community leaders urging authorities to take swift action to ensure villagers’ safety.

CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed Iwajomo’s arrest, stating that detectives from the SCID apprehended him following a coordinated, intelligence-led raid.
Hundeyin disclosed that on July 15, 2025, detectives, acting on intelligence, stormed a criminal hideout in the Ajegunle area of Ikorodu.
He said, ‘’During the operation, they arrested Iwajomo and found him in possession of an AK-49 assault rifle, three magazines, 15 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition, three rounds of 9mm (K2) ammunition, two rounds of 7.62x51mm ammunition.
‘’Preliminary investigations indicate that Iwajomo has been actively involved in armed robbery and land-grabbing activities across various parts of Lagos State, using the recovered firearm to commit his crimes.
‘’Efforts are now being intensified to apprehend his accomplices and other members of the criminal syndicate.’’
