The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) has elected four new bishops to provide leadership for dioceses in Benue, Akwa Ibom, Ekiti and Lagos states.
The elections were concluded during the Episcopal Synod held as part of the Advance Episcopal Consultation in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Most Rev. Henry Ndukuba, announced the outcome of the elections at the close of the synod held at Our Saviour’s Chapel, University of Port Harcourt.
A statement by the Director of Communications of the Church of Nigeria, Ven. Raphael Aderinwale, said those elected are Ven. Dr. Godwin Tersoo Simon Yakela for Makurdi Diocese, Ven. Dr. Kingsley Ogbonda for Uyo Diocese, Ven. Dr. Julius Oyediran for Ekiti Oke Diocese and Ven. Dr. Olayemi Fatusi for Awori Diocese.

Ndukuba said the elections were concluded after prayerful deliberations by members of the Episcopal Synod.
He also disclosed that the bishops-elect would be consecrated during the General Synod of the Church of Nigeria scheduled to hold in Remo Diocese in September.
According to him, the newly elected bishops will assume responsibility for the spiritual oversight of their dioceses, promote evangelism and strengthen the Anglican Communion within their jurisdictions.
The primate urged members of the church to pray for the bishops-elect, asking God to grant them wisdom, strength, good health, humility and the grace to faithfully discharge the responsibilities of the episcopal office.
The elections complete the church’s process of selecting new episcopal leaders for the four dioceses.
